We had plans to go to the Cape so we could spend the day on the beach with some friends. Sadly it was not meant to be. After spending almost 4 hours in the car sitting in traffic (for what should have been a 1 hr drive), we gave up and headed back north, drove past our house and got to our local beach after 4 in the afternoon. The kids had been so good in the car that we didn't feel like it was fair to just go home. It was an extra bummer because I had to spend the day at work on Sunday.
Ryan became very excited about the idea of building a tunnel down to the water's edge. Jason and I decided fairly early on that it was going to end much sooner than that but as you can see Ryan just kept going. He seemed to be having trouble with the concept of taking the most direct path though!

Oh, that would-be trip to the Cape sounds awful! Greg and I did sometime similar years ago, the first time we lived in Philly. Spent 3 hours in the car and didn't even come CLOSE to reaching the Jersey shore. We didn't have the tenacity to find an alternative beach, though! Glad you made it to the ocean eventually - great tunnel, Ryan!
