Friday night: watched Leverage and ate pizza after the kids were in bed.
Saturday: I got to go for a run with Tia - yay!. After Ryan woke up from his nap - We went for a walk at "Breakheart Reservation" with kids and dogs. It was a bit slippery with the last remnants of snow and ice but we managed to not break our silly necks - even though we had several close calls. Ryan had lots of fun on the playground, especially on the swing when he was "racing" daddy on a different swing! Jason and I watched another movie that evening once the munchkins were tucked in.
Sunday: Mummy at work and Daddy home alone with 2 little monsters. I wasn't originally planning on working but when they asked me to, it seemed like the best way to enjoy our daily excursions guilt free :)
Monday: The kids went to Gladys' for a couple of hours and we went out for a lunch date. After that we picked the kids up and went to the childrens museum . . . I think Ryan could spend a whole week there . . . . as a result we decided to get a membership and will be going back again soon.
Enjoying lunch at the museum
Tuesday: Skiing for the adults! Originally when Jason chose this week for holiday our plan was to go and spend 3 or 4 nights in a ski area with the kids and we would use the resort daycare to allow us to do a little bit of sking. We then realised that our bank account wouldn't like that plan so decided that a good compromise would be to still use daycare for 2 days of the week and Jason and I would do day trips for sking. It worked out well because it was the normal routine for Megan and Ryan and they love going to Gladys' house. It was lovely sking, Pat's Peak in Southern NH had just had fresh snow so there was lots of lovely powder. It wasn't a very big mountain but perfect for us seeing how little sking we've done in the last 4 years. By the end of the day we felt very confident and even did a couple of black diamonds!
Wednesday: a low key day allowing the kids their normal napping schedule and getting the house a little in order!
Thursday: Another skiing day. This time we decided to go a little further North - a 2 hour drive north in fact to Cannon Mountain in NH. This was a much steeper mountain and it was here that our bubble was burst. We realised that Pat's Peak was just easier than we were used to and that there wasn't a chance in hell that we were going down a black diamond here. (We did accidentally end up on one briefly, boy did Jason ever get an earful from the always careful me :) Even some of the blues we found a little difficult. It was a rude awakening that we are in the worst shape that we have ever been in our lives because for the first time we felt sore sking and had to stop a couple of times.
We definitely miss sking regularly and are keeping our fingers crossed that certain family members will move to the rockies so that we can visit at least once a year for a sking holiday!! (you know who you are :)
Friday: Nice relaxing morning with the kids enjoying a cooked breakfast. Then we headed into Boston. We walked downtown to the aquarium and spent lots of time looking at penquins, fish and turtles oh my!
Saturday & Sunday: Low key, doing errands, playing with the kids, I got to go for a run and the dogs actually got to go for walks.
All in all a lovely relaxing week that we really needed. Too bad we both have to get back to work!

That sounds fabulous! We aren't family, but you are welcome to come stay with us anytime you want a Rocky Mtn. ski trip. We have an extra room and free daycare! :)
